VDC members, people protest against Hurriyat
VHP Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) State patron Dr Rama Kant Dubey said the VDCs are working shoulder to shoulder with security forces in combating terrorism in the State and their services be properly utilized for this purpose and the VDCs be given all encouragement from the Government and also the regular grades as per police personnel.
Talking to reporters, Dr Dubey said during last over two decades the VDCs have laid down their lives in the State and it was due to their efforts and service to the nation that the mass migration from hilly areas of Jammu region was stopped and the game plan of separatists and Pakistan was thwarted to a great extent.
He said that it was with their efforts that the migration from upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Doda , Kishtwar, Poonch and Rajouri was stopped and people stayed back in their homes and hearts.
”It was a game-plan of separatists and Pakistan to empty the hilly reaches of Jammu of minority Hindus too as was done in Kashmir where from entire Hindu minority was forced to flee by them,” Dr Dubey said.
He while commenting over the firing incident of Kewal Krishan a ration dealer of Kalakote said that the bullet has accidentally hit the Ishtiyaq Choudhary and it should not be given a communal turn. He accused the administration of playing a dubious role.
He warned the administration to desist from harassing the members of minority community and family members of Kewal Krishan Sharma who surrendered before the police soon after the incident. He said giving communal tinge to the episode can be dangerous as such incidents have also taken place in past too and law should take its course.
Meanwhile the Village Defence Committee (VDC) members and people from about a dozen villages from one community today held strong protest demonstration near Muradpur on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch road and disrupted the movement of traffic for about two and half hours today.
The protest was organised by the people against the call given by Hurriyat Conference and other groups in Kashmir demanding disbanding of VDCs and also lodge protest against police which has arrested all the 10 members of the family of a drunken VDC member, who had killed a local NC leader over a personal tiff at Kesargalla in Kalakote area few days back.
.
They were raising loud slogans against Hurriyat leaders Sayed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik and Engineer Rashid besides J&K Govt and Police. They strongly opposed the move to disband VDCs in the State and said that those who are speaking to disband VDCs are the agents of Pakistan and supporters of militants. They alleged that Mufti led Coalition Govt was running on the dictates of Hurriyat and is appeasing to HC cadre. They condemned arrest of 10 members of VDC member of Kalakote including women and said that while one drunken man committed this criminal act who has already been arrested by police and booked for murder, why entire family is being made culprit.
