The Services Selection Board (SSB) examination held today for selection to various posts turned into mockery amid mass copying at some centres here.
The pictures of examinees matching their answers while sitting in groups went viral on social sites forcing the Board authorities to cancel exams at two centres of Jammu district.
As per sources, around 1500 job aspirants, whose examination centre was at Luthra College of Education Bohri Talab Tillo and Sacred Heart College of Education here, indulged in mass cheating.
“Instead of sitting in their allotted seats, the examinees were found squatted in groups in the lawns with question paper and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answers sheets and writing their papers in consultation with one another,” an eyewitness told.
“It was a scene of total mayhem and breach of examination norms, and also injustice with those who had worked hard to crack the competitive test,” he said.
The SSB secretary, S A Raina said that the exam, held at the two centres, has been cancelled after complaints of cheating and copying.
“The exam at Luthra College Jammu and Scared Heart College has been canceled and inquiry initiated against the in-charges of these centres,” he said.
He further said that except the two centres, the overall conducting of the examination was smooth with total attendance of 66 percent.
“Out of 89,479 applicants, 58,776 turned up to take today’s examination,” he said.
