J&K cricket team suffered fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy tournament at KSCA Cricket Stadium Bangalore on Tuesday as Railways beat them by 43 runs. Already under pressure for its below par performance in the tournament and having suffered three losses in a row, JK went in the middle making wholesale changes in the playing eleven.
JK won the toss and chose to field first. At half way decision seemed right as Railways were bundled out for 200 runs in 49.4 overs. For Railways Karan Sharma top scored with 60 runs while as Arindham Ghosh scored 36 and Mahesh Rawat scored 32. For JK, Waseem Raza took four wickets while as Rohit Sharma and Badeep Singh took two each.
After the first innings ended it looked like that JK would finally open its account on points table by registering first win of the event. However, as has been the case, JK batting again failed to deliver with whole team being bundled out for 157 runs in 43.5 overs. Ian Dev top scored with 60 while as Parvez Rasool scored 30. Bandeep Singh made 28. For Railways, Ashish Yadav took three wickets while as K K Upadhyay and Karan Sharma took two wickets each. JK lost match by 43 runs and faced fourth consecutive defeat of the tournament.
The performance of the State’s top cricket side has gone down many folds in the recent months. After the disastrous Ranji season, it seems one-day campaign is going to witness one of its worst performance in the history. Last season JK registered three wins in the same tournament and missed qualification for knockout by a whisker.
