Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Friday asked the concerned authorities to revisit the plan of construction of two flyovers at Dalgate and Radio Kashmir in Srinagar city.
Chairing a meeting, the Minister asked them to come up with a revised comprehensive project which can suffice the purpose for which these have been conceptualized. “These projects have been framed to ease the traffic pressure at these two busy junctions in the capital city and the concerned departments should work in synergy to ensure bottlenecks are removed for effective execution of the project,” the Minister said.
The Minister asked the implementing agency to finalize the issue within a week to ensure that work is started early on these two important projects.
The Minister asked the authorities to ensure that aesthetic view of Srinagar city is not affected while implementing the developmental plans. He stressed on being extra cautious for maintaining heritage value of the buildings while implementing development programmes across the state.
Bukhari said traffic congestion is still a problem in Srinagar city at certain locations despite move of offices to Jammu and directed IG traffic to ensure adequate corrective measures and deployment of manpower for improving the system.
