Taj Group and Indigo airlines arranged yet another Familiarization ‘FAM Tour’ to the Valley.
This time the tour operators and travel agents were majorly from Mumbai and other western region which is a major potential market for the valley.
During their stay at Vivanta by Taj Dalview Srinagar from Sep 29 to Oct 1, the group visited SKICC to understand the MICE opportunities in Kashmir, where a complete product brief was given about the convention Centre.
The group also did a show around of the RSGC to promote golf tourism in national and international markets.
FAM group did extensive tour of the Srinagar city to assess the infrastructural conditions at various tourist places. A brief speech was also given on the Tulip Season in Kashmir which has become a most sellable product of spring season.
The FAM comprised of some of the leading tour operators like Cox & Kings, Thomas Cook , Uniglobe ATB, Planet Hospitality , Devam Tours, Classic Holidays, Wiyo , Travel patio, Sunrise and many more along with the sales and marketing team of Taj group and Indigo airline from Mumbai.
On Sep 30, 2015 a gala night was arranged at Vivanta by Taj Dalview Srinagar where an interaction session was held between local travel agents and the FAM group participant to strengthen the bonding and provide opportunity to local entrepreneurs to establish contacts.
At the same time rebuild the confidence to promote the Tourism in Kashmir valley after the last years flood setback and repeated untoward incidents that get highlighted in media that prevents potential customers to choose Kashmir as holiday destination.
On this occasion the General Manager Naveen Tomar and the Director of Sales Basharat Rashid thanked all participants of the FAM tour for visiting valley.
The organizations particularly Travel Agents Association of India J&K Chapter (TAAI JK) which had made sightseeing arrangements , Royal springs Golf Course (RSGC) and Sher e Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) , J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) , Floricultural department Tulip Garden for showcasing their properties and products.
The special note of thanks was made to the Commissioner/Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah for showing absolute support at all times to such corporate initiatives.
Chairman, Indian Association of Tour Operators (Kashmir chapter), Abdu Khaliq Wangnoo thanked the tour operators for visiting Kashmir.
He said the tour operators should act as ambassadors and spread a good word about Kashmir.
TASK President Ibrahim Siah appreciated the move by Taj Vivanta for organizing the FAM tour.
He urged the travel agents to promote the Kashmir which is as normal as any other city in India.
“We are back into tourism after floods and there are no problems. You must have seen yourself. Now, you should act our ambassadress and promote Kashmir,” said Siah while addressing travel agents from outside.
