Member Legislative Assembly, Er Rashid, Thursday said he has withdrawn case against five people who smeared ink on his face in New Delhi as he had no hope of getting justice.
“We had no hopes of justice there (New Delhi) because they (the attackers) were like government guests,” he said addressing a press conference here. “Our fight is not against those five rented goons, but against the ideology of RSS and Sangh Parivar. I wanted to show that Kashmiris have so much tolerance that we forgive those five people when India does not let go even innocent Kashmiris.”
Rashid said he had been saying this and will reiterate that Gandhi’s India is dead. “I have sympathy for the people of India. I have objection to what people say that there are some radical elements, fringe elements (who are doing these things). It is not like that. In fact the whole of India has turned into a radical State. India has been taken over by radical elements. Sakshi Maharaj, Praveen Togadia and Chief Minister of Haryana are not fringe or isolated elements. That is why I say that they are themselves trying to prove right Jinnah’s two-nation theory,” he said.
Rashid said that he did not mind being attacked. “But why did they attack the relatives of Zahid and Showkat (victims of Udhampur attack)? The people of Delhi should have apologized to them but rather they rubbed salt onto their wounds,” he said.
“They are saying that I have hurt the religious sentiments of minorities. What about our religious sentiments? There is a ban on Muharram procession here. There are restrictions in place on Eid. Mirwaiz (Umar Farooq) is not allowed to offer prayers at Eidgah. Is this not interference in religious affairs? The whole world should see who are intolerant,” he said.
Displaying the clothes that he was wearing when attacked in New Delhi, Rashid said that his blackened clothes are actually “shroud of Indian claims of tolerance and secularism.”
Er Rashid also slammed the PDP.
“PDP must not blame anybody. They showed the way to forces who have let loose a reign of terror in entire India. Kashmir is no exception for them,” he said.
“Why are they (PDP) blaming me, they should reply to their own MP (Tariq Hamid Karra). He is not lying,” he said. “Voices are coming out of PDP itself that they committed mistake by joining hands with BJP.”
He further said that PDP is now saying that no world power can stop them from eating beef. “When an MLA is attacked for eating beef how can a common man eat?” he asked adding that the beef exports of India have risen since Modi took over. “The Army (in Kashmir) killed thousands of cows.”
He also paid rich tributes to people killed in Bijbehara massacre this day in 1993.
“It is Muharram and Kashmir is curfewed. People are beaten and arrested,” he said adding that it is because of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed that communal elements have also taken over in J&K.
