Senior pro-freedom leader and Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday asked people to start preparations for the upcoming ‘Million March’ on November 7 to counter Prime Minister’s rally in Srinagar.
Geelani led Hurriyat Conference on Thursday announced a ‘Million March’asking people to assemble at Tourist reception Centre (TRC) ground to counter Prime Minister’s first ever rally in Srinagar after PDP-BJP formed coalition government in State.
“This rally will be a referendum to show whether PM’s rally will have large number of people or the rally of Geelani Sahab,” said Hurriyat Conference Spokesperson Akbar.
Akbar added that They have already submitted an application before the deputy commissioner Srinagar seeking permission for the rally.
“We are expecting a million people to attend the rally and for which invitation have been sent to all Hurriyat amalgams” Akbar added.
Meanwhile sources in Jammu and Kashmir police said that security will be advanced in entire state to thwart any separatist movement.
Police officer added that it is more likely that all Hurriyat leaders will be detained or put under preventative custody.
PM Modi is expected to announce the much-delayed flood rehabilitation package during his visit to the state on November 7.
“The prime minister of India Narendra Modi can’t buy the freedom demand of the Kashmiri people even if he will announce ten Lakh Crore, instead of one Lakh Crore and Kashmiri people will eat nothing but they will never bow before the atrocities and brutalities of India,” Geelani said.
Reports added that the Prime Minister will first inaugurate Phase-II of the Baghlihar hydro-electric power project in the Jammu region and then land in Srinagar to address a rally for which the alliance partners are busy making preparations.
Speculations are also rife in the state that the Prime Minister may also invite the Hurriyat leaders for talks. Both the opposition, National Conference as well the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed have been urging the Centre to resume the talks with separatists for a final settlement of Kashmir issue.
