Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari said that Union Ministry of Home Affairs has conveyed in principle approval to provide additional 3000 State Government jobs to Kashmiri Migrants with financial assistance from the Union Government and to construct 6000 transit accommodations in Kashmir Valley for migrants whom State Government jobs have been/will be provided, adding that formal approval from the Union Government is awaited.
The Minister said this while replying to a question by Surinder Mohan Ambardar in the Legislative Council today.
The Minister said that to facilitate return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants in Kashmir Valley Union and the State Government sanctioned a package of Rs 1618.40 crore in 2008-09. He informed the House that under the package 1963 migrant unemployed youth have been appointed for serving in different departments in Kashmir valley.
The Minister said under transit accommodation component of the package, 505 units of transit accommodation have been constructed out of which 469 units have been allotted to employees appointed under PM’s Package.
The Minister informed the House that after detailed interaction with various organizations and also deliberations in Apex Level Advisory Committee meetings chaired by the Chief Minister revised proposal for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants after seeking approval of the State Cabinet has been submitted to the Union Government.
