National Conference president Farooq Abdullah visited the Raghunath Bazaar here today and greeted people and Mata Vaishno Devi-bound pilgrims on the first Navratra.
The pilgrims jostled with each other to have a close glimpse of Abdullah and had photo sessions with him. They kept chanting “Jai Mata di” while Abdullah wished them a blissful yatra, especially during the ongoing auspicious days.
In his interaction with different groups of pilgrims, mostly youngsters, Abdullah urged them to spread the message of peace and pray for the unity of the nation, which is known for its unity in diversity.
Abdullah, accompanied by NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana, distributed sweets among the pilgrims and said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had inherited hospitality, which was why the people from all over the country were visiting the state time and again. “This spirit is needed to be further strengthened,” he emphasised.
The NC president also interacted with the members of the business community, who greeted him on Navratras. He hoped that they would continue to extend all the support to pilgrims so that they return their homes with cherished memories.
