National executive member of the BJP ST Morcha Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal today accused Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti of a “murderous assault” on him at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on Saturday.
Poswal urged BJP national president Amit Shah to intervene in the matter.
Poswal alleged that during a meeting of Gujjar-Bakerwal advisory board, Mufti Sayeed’s security guards beat him up after the former directed them to do so.
“After Mufti Sayeed signalled to his security guards, they pounced on me. The guards snatched my mobile phone and beat me up after dragging me out of the meeting hall at the SKICC on Saturday. I was nearly killed,” said Poswal.
“As if this was not enough, I was later bundled into a police vehicle and lodged at the Nishat police station for about seven hours,” he added.
Poswal said he was invited as a special guest to an important meeting at the SKICC on Saturday. Several PDP members and a few BJP members were present at the meeting.
Poswal alleged that during the meeting, the PDP members continuously ignored the BJP members.
“For about an hour, the PDP members, including ministers, present at the meeting went on to make their point. As I sought their attention to make a point and said that the BJP members should also be heard, Mufti Sayeed asked me to remain silent. After an hour, when I again sought the attention of members to make a point, both Mehbooba and Mufti were angered,” he said.
According to him, Mehbooba screamed at the meeting that he was not even a member.
“As I stood up to leave the meeting hall, Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed made a gesture to his guards who unleashed hell on me. A few BJP members present at the meeting were not even allowed to speak on issues faced by tribal people,” said Poswal.
Poswal said he had received a call from the Police Control Room, Kupwara, on Friday around 6.45 pm and the caller had requested him to attend the meeting.
In a letter to Amit Shah, Poswal has sought his personal intervention into the murderous assault allegedly by the Chief Minister and the PDP president.
“I am feeling a threat to life and have taken up the issue with the BJP president. I may move court to register a case against the father-daughter duo for the murderous assault on me,” said Poswal.
