The family reports that Salman hasn’t kept his word and that all their attempts to contact the actor have gone in vain
Apart from his acting, stardom and crazy fan following, Salman Khan is also known for his philanthropic side. Not only does he actively involve himself with his Being Human NGO, he also makes sure to not let any opportunity to help other go by. Accordingly the actor made headlines for the same while he was shooting in Kashmir for his last release, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The actor had adopted a family there which included a 75-year old lady, her 40-year old daughter and her four grandchildren. He had offered to support them financially and get the grandsons settled in Mumbai. He even got the construction work on their house started and while in Kashmir, gave Gowhar Ahmad Bhat- 18 and the only boy in the family- a job in the art department on the sets. But now that he’s away from the valley, the family has claimed that all help has been withdrawn too.
Gowhar said while talking to a popular tabloid that they were left midway after huge promises and that the construction of their house has been put on hold for very long since the money stopped flowing in. He said, “I’ve tried to call his (Salman’s) bodyguard, Shera, several times. He never answers and sometimes his phone is out of reach. Before the release of the film, they would call us, but now they’ve stopped taking our calls. I’ve left my studies and I’m looking for odd jobs to support my family, still hoping that Salman Khan will keep his promise to us.”
The local contractor who had been working on their house, too claims that he has a pending amount of Rs 2.61 lakh but whenever he calls up Salman’s people they tell him that he’s travelling and promise to settle the bill soon.
However, a source close to Salman has a different story to tell. The source informed the same tabloid that Salman has no intention of back-tracking on his promises. Since Gowhar is the only male child in the family, he needs to take up a job nearby. So they’ve requested a few people for a job in the valley. As far as the construction work goes the source claims that the work is still in progress and that the house would be ready in about a month.
The source further added, “Once the house is complete we will send picture of it and you will see for yourself that Salman kept his promise.”
