The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that India has denied financial assistance to flood-hit Kashmiris out of vengeance.
While talking to a delegation from Kashmir Economic Alliance at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar, Syed Ali Gilani said, “A year has passed since the floods devastated the Kashmir valley but the rulers in New Delhi have made no efforts to rehabilitate the victims. In reality, they want Kashmiris to beg for everything.” according to a statement issued by his forum.
He said that puppet chief minister Mohammad Sayeed forged an alliance with BJP claiming that flood-hit Kashmir would get sufficient financial assistance. “At the time of government formation, Mufti’s party claimed that the financial assistance from India would stabilize the economic condition of Kashmir, but these claims only proved to be hoax,” he added.
“Instead of extending any help, New Delhi further tightened its grip over the natural resources of the territory,” he said. The veteran leader said that the traders of Kashmir were the worst sufferers in the last year’s flood. “We understand the problems of our traders. We also know how India, under a plan, wants to break the backbone of the economics in Kashmir,” he added. He said was India actually avenging Kashmiris’ opposition to its illegal occupation of the territory.
Gilani maintained that the people in Kashmir were prepared to bear any loss, but would not bow before the Indian imperialism. “Our struggle will continue until last Indian solider vacates this land,” he reiterated. The statement read that members of KEA informed Gilani about their problems and how they were humiliated and harassed by New Delhi as well as the puppt authorities”. The delegation comprised KEA Chairman, Showkat Ahmad Chaudhary, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Yousuf Chappery, Jan Mohammad Koul, Mohammad Sadiq Ronga, Shaikh Mohammad Yousuf and Dr. Mushtaq.
