On the appeal of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani, people across Kashmir Valley observed Friday as a solidarity day for the Muslims of Pir Panjal, Chenab Valley and Jammu regions.
Hurriyat (G) spokesperson said people took held protests against the execution of Yakub Memon in Nagpur Jail and cautioned the government that if they failed to protect the Muslims of these regions from the mischievous activities of the “communal and fascist” forces, it will have serious consequences and a strong reaction will come to fore in the Kashmir valley against this.
According to a statement Hurriyat (G) leaders led different protest marches at different places and apprised the general public about situations in the Jammu division and in this respect a huge protest march led by senior Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmad Shah was took out from Saraibala in Srinagar to Amirakadal and Hari Sing High street, in which Hurriyat (G) leaders Khan Mohammad Sopori, Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Bilal Siddiqi, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Saleem Zargar, Imtiyaz Hyder, Rameez Raja, Omer Adil Dar, Javaid Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Arshid Aziz, Junaid Ahmad, Khalid-ul-Islam and Ishfaq Ahmad Khan also participated.
Another protest march led by Bashir Ahmad Quraishi was taken out from Jamia Masjid Chandarhama Pattan. Despite arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Anantnag along with his three associates the protest rallies were taken out from various places in the district and people also held funeral prayers in absentia for Memon.
Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani in his message said since the inception of the PDP-BJP government, the “communal and fascist forces” in Jammu have started a well planned movement against the Muslim population of the region and they are continuously hatching conspiracies to hurt and harm the Muslims in every possible and visible way.
