Hizb claims responsibility
Two Indian Army personnel were injured, one of them critically after militants fired upon a search party near Trenz area of Imam sahab Shopian in South Kashmir on Wednesday.
Police sources said that after receiving inputs about the presence of a group of militants in Trenz area, a joint party of 44 RR Army, Special Operation Group and CRPF cordoned a part of village, however, soon before the cordon, militants targeted search party resulted in the injuries of two Army personnel.
An army official from 15 Corps told CNS that one of the soldiers received a bullet in his neck and he was immediately shifted to 92 Base Badami bagh Army hospital. Reports said that during the brief exchange of fire, two army personnel were injured. “The search operation is going on and all efforts are on to nab the militants,” the official said.
Claiming the responsibility of the attack, militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen said that at least 4 Indian Army personnel were killed in the attack.
“The attack was carried out by our militants when Indian army tried to cordon an area in the Shopian. Mujhadeen managed to escape from the spot successfully. At least four Indian Army soldiers were killed and more than six were injured,” Burhanuddin, the operational spokesperson of Hizb told CNS over phone.
He said that attacks on Indian army and security installations will continue till freedom struggle is not taken to its logical conclusion.
The spokesperson added that during a high level meeting of Hizb Command Council, the Supreme Commander of the outfit, Syed Salahuddin, Deputy Supreme Commander Muhammad Saifullah Khalid paid rich tributes to the two LeT militants killed in Lajoora and a civilian killed in Padgampora Pulwama on Wednesday. “The sacrifices of militants and civilians will not go waste,” he said.
