Shutdown across Kashmir against increasing incidents of Braid Chopping, Restrictions at many places in Srinagar

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for complete shutdown on Monday against the unabated incidents of braid chopping in Kashmir. In a statement issued here, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said that there was a “well planned conspiracy” behind the braid chopping of Kashmiri women. Kashmir valley has been witnessing braid chopping incidents for last one month which has evoked widespread condemnation and spread fear. Restrictions in Srinagar today

The authorities have decided to impose restrictions in some parts of the city on Wednesday in view of the shutdown call given by separatists against the killing of two youth in Handwara town. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone said restrictions will be imposed in parts of the city that fall under jurisdiction of six police stations, including Rainawari, Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Khanyar, Safakadal and Maisuma.
