Ashraf Sehrai elevated to chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, replaces Sayed Ali Geelani

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Monday replaced octogenarian leader Syed Ali Geelani as the chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH). Hurriyat sources told Kashmir Post that the election within the party will be held later this year and Sehrai will till then would continue as TeH chairman. Geelani won consecutive elections over the years and remained at the top post for continuous 18 years ever since its formation.
