Corona-virus count crosses 38000 mark in J&K, 14 new deaths take toll to 717

With 525 new cases — 241 from the Jammu division and 284 from the Kashmir province, being reported during the last 24 hours, the Covid count in J&K has reached 38,223.

Fourteen deaths, four from Jammu and 10 from the Valley, were reported during the same period, taking the virus toll to 717 in the UT.

Meanwhile, 469 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals — 111 in Jammu and 358 in the Valley. With 459 patients recuperating on Tuesday, recoveries in J&K reached 29,484.

According to the official bulletin issued on Tuesday evening, out of the 38,223 positive cases, 8,022 were active, 29484 had recovered and 714 died.

Meanwhile, district administration, Jammu, today organised COVID-19 testing camps at 19 locations declared as containment zones within the city.

The camps were organised to intensify testing for COVID-19 in the 19 containment zones which were sealed this morning. In these areas announcements were made through the public addressing system mounted on vehicles appealing people to get tested at these camps.

Authorities appealed to people to extend full cooperation to the administration during the COVID-19 testing. They said the sampling and testing process will be most beneficial in curbing the community transmission of infection.
