Fourteen coronavirus deaths, one from Jammu and 13 from Kashmir Valley, were reported during the past 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), taking the toll to 296 in the UT.
A total of 353 new cases were reported from J&K and 508 patients recovered and were discharged across the UT.
As per the official bulletin issued on Friday evening, in J&K, 353 new cases came to light, including 48 of travellers, thus taking the total count to 16,782. Out of the total 353 cases, 129 are from Jammu and 224 from Kashmir Valley, including some cops of the Central forces.
Thirtyfive patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals from the Jammu division and 473 from Kashmir Valley.
Out of the 16,782 positive cases, 7,269 were active positive, 9,217 recoveries and 296 deaths, 21 in the Jammu division and 275 in Kashmir.
On Friday, Jammu district recorded the highest-ever 45 positive cases in the whole of J&K. These 45 included 20 residents of the Karan Bagh locality on the outskirts of the city where a woman died due to Covid last week.
A 58-year-old coronavirus patient of the Greater Kailash area of Jammu died this morning. The deceased was serving in the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) as an ASI. He was admitted in the isolation ward of Government Medical College Hospital (GMC), Jammu, on July 22. With this death, the death toll in the Jammu province reached 21.
