Protesting civilian killings in Kashmir Faizan Bukhari returns award to army

A student in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday returned his awared to army, as a sign of protest against the civilian killings in Pulwama on Saturday.

Syed Faizan Bukhari, a class 11 student from Poonch district of Jammu division, returned his award that he had won during a public speaking competition organized by the Army in Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch as a sign of protest against the Pulwama killings.

As Bukhari had written a post on his social media account saying that he cannot keep his eyes, ears and mouth closed and is ashamed of his elders who closed their eyes, ears and mouth.

The post further read, “I , Faizan Mursil was awarded first prize by in GDC, Poonch in a symposium Compition on Thursday by Army. I return my prize as a protest against Killing of innocent civilians among whom one was of my age. May Allah help us. Mujhse yeh Haq koi nahi cheehn sakta.”

Earlier Bukhari had posted a video talking about his achievement and thanking his teachers for the same.

On Saturday Sirnoo area of Pulwama witnessed a ‘massacre’ which was highly condemned by mainstream politicians and separatists.

SHRC has also asked police to give factual report on what has happened in Pulwama. while as Pak PM and Army also condemned the killings.
