Imtiyaz Parrey, Kuka Parrey’s son to win ULB polls unopposed from volatile Hajin

Notorious Ikhwan commander Kuka Parrey’s son will be elected unopposed from volatile Hajin town in the upcoming ULB polls.
According to sources, Imtiyaz Ahmad Parrey son of Muhammad Yousuf Parrey alias Kuka Parrey, has filed nomination papers from two municipal wards in Hajin town on behalf of the Congress party. Parrey is also the district president of the Congress party.

Along with Imtiyaz, seven more candidates of the Congress party will be elected unopposed from Hajin municipality.
“All these candidates being unopposed will automatically win the elections. Neither BJP nor any other independent candidate has filed nomination papers from Hajin town,” sources said.
Hajin town which was a hub of notorious government-sponsored militia, Ikhwan-ul-Muslimeen, during mid-nineties, is now considered as “safe haven for militants” as they have been able to “revive militancy in the area during past few years”.

The Ikhwan group was led by Kuka Parrey who was from Parrey Mohalla Hajin. The group had unleashed fear in Hajin town.
However, the Hajin has seen a major shift in the past few months and militant activities have increased in the town.
Imtiyaz has filed his nomination papers from two wards (9 and 11) of Hajin town. Hajin town has 13 municipality wards. Congress party has filed nomination papers from 10 wards fielding eight candidates in the fray.
The last date for withdrawing nomination papers was on Wednesday and none of them withdrew their papers. The Congress has also fielded two women candidates from two wards of Hajin municipality.

Out of 13 wards, three wards have not a single candidate to contest.
