After inputs of Jaish infiltration Kashmir Valley on High alert

The Kashmir valley is on a high alert and the security forces are on tenterhooks following inputs that around two dozen battle-hardened Jaish-e-Mohammed militants, believed to have infiltrated recently, have split themselves in smaller groups in south Kashmir.
The immediate worry for the security grid is the anniversary of the first battle of Islam — the Battle of Badr — that falls on Saturday. Intelligence inputs indicate that militants may carry out attacks on the day. Last year, the Jaish had carried out six attacks on the anniversary of Badr in four districts of the Valley, leaving 16 security personnel injured.
“Tomorrow is Jang-e-Badr anniversary and we suspect that militants may carry out attacks. We are on extra alert,” said a senior security forces officer in Kashmir.
When asked about the possibility of a fidayeen attack, the officer said “these kind of threats always remain”. “The security of camps has been strengthened and area domination around the camps is being done round the clock,” he added.
The police on Thursday issued an alert to the security agencies in the Valley to maintain highest vigilance around their camps.
“The inputs indicate that terrorists may carry out attacks and also attempt to loot rifles. All field formations have been advised to maintain the highest state of alert around their respective camps round the clock,” said a police officer on the condition of anonymity. The major worry for the security apparatus is the Jaish, which made a comeback in 2017 by carrying out fidayeen attacks.
Police sources said around two dozen newly infiltrated Jaish militants had split themselves in smaller groups in south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts. The militants are believed to have infiltrated through the Pir Panjal mountains and have come on the security radar a fortnight ago.
After New Delhi announced the unilateral Ramzan ceasefire, the Jaish headed by Masood Azhar, claimed responsibility for many attacks in south Kashmir, including the attack on an Army camp at Pulwama and the IED attack on an Army vehicle in Shopian.
