Amid Bloodbath and Destruction along IB, BJP celebrating four years of Modi Govt

Amid bloodbath and destruction along the International Border, the top brass of the state BJP on Friday celebrated four years of the NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The high-profile celebrations were held at Akhnoor which also witnessed destruction in the recent shelling from across the border. The Pallanwalla sector, where eight-month-old Nitin lost his life due to Pakistani firing, is part of the Akhnoor area.
The BJP celebrations evoked a strong reaction from people, especially in Akhnoor.
“Instead of organising the function with a pomp and show, the BJP leadership should have visited the house of Gopal Dass who has lost his eight-month old son in the Pallanwalla area of Khour,” said Naresh Dutt Sharma, a social activist.
“Over two lakh border residents have been dislocated and they are living in make-shift camps. Instead of visiting the shelling-affected families, the BJP leadership, including ministers, are busy in the celebrations,” Naresh said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Sanjay Sharma, another social activist of Akhnoor, said such celebrations reflected insensitivity of the BJP leadership towards the situation in the Jammu region.
Meanwhile, a party handout issued on Friday said the BJP led by its state president Ravinder Raina, Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Akhnoor MLA Rajiv Sharma and Khour MLA Krishan Bhagat took out a rally in which hundreds of motorcycles and cars participated.
The rally was organised in connection with the completion of successful and eventful four years of the Modi government in the Centre and three years of the state government, it said.
“The rally started from the Akhnoor bridge, passed through all main markets of Akhnoor and culminated at the Akhnoor guest house. The rally was attended by thousands of BJP activists. The common masses raised the slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’,” the party said.
