Four Civilians, Armyman killed, 60 Civilains, 2 Troopers wounded during Kulgam Gunfight

The civilian death toll mounted to four after another youth injured in clashes near gunfight site in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The slain was identified as Aijaz Ahmad Palla, 30 from Bijbehara.
Reports said Palla was injured in clashes near the site of gunfight in Wani mohalla area of Khudwani.
Earlier, three civilians – identified as Sharjeel Ahmad Sheikh (28), Bilal Ahmad Tantray (16) of Hawoora Mishpora and Faisal Illahi (14) of Melhoora Shopian – were killed in clashes with the forces.

A soldier has also been killed in the gunfight while two other forces’ personnel have been injured.
At least two civilians have suffered pellet injuries in their eyes during the clashes.

A civilian was killed during clashes near the site of the gunfight in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.
Reports said that youth took to streets and clashed with the forces to disrupt the anti-militant operation going on since late last night in Wani Mohalla of Khudwani.
They said that a youth, identified as Sharjeel Ahmad Sheikh (28) was injured during the clashes. He was shifted sub-district hospital Qaimoh where from he was referred to District Hospital Anantnag. A doctor at the facility said that Sheikh succumbed there.
“He had suffered a bullet injury in his abdomen,” said the doctor.
Meanwhile, the authorities have ordered the closure of all schools and colleges in Kulgam district in view of the ongoing gunfight and the clashes.
The gunfight that broke out at 11 pm has left an army trooper dead and two forces’ personnel injured so far.
Two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba are believed to be trapped in a house which has been surrounded by the forces.

An army soldier was killed and two others, including a CRPF man, injured in an ongoing gunfight with militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.
An official said that the gunfight broke out in Wani Mohalla area of Khudwani at 11 pm after forces launched a cordon-and-search operation.
“During the search operation, some gunshots were heard after which an encounter started. The gunfight is still underway,” he said, adding three forces’ personnel wounded in the firefight were evacuated to an army hospital.
An army official confirmed that an army man wounded in the firefight succumbed at the hospital.
Two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba are believed to be trapped inside a house.
Authorities on Wednesday suspended Internet services in twin districts of Kulgam and Anantnag.
Meanwhile, clashes have erupted near the site of the gunfight between the forces and the protesters.
