Cancer on steep rise in J&K; 28424 patients registered in 7 years

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday revealed that there was a sharp rise in cancer cases in the state, particularly in Kashmir region. Replying to a question of legislator Saif-ud-Din Bhat and supplementary questions raised by legislators Qaiser Jamsheed Lone and Vibod Gupta, Minister for Health & Medical Education Bali Bhagat said that 28,424 cancer patients have registered with government hospitals of Jammu and Srinagar in the last seven year. Swedish skier killed in avalanche at Gulmarg, another rescued

A Swedish tourist was killed Thursday when an avalanche tore through a Himalayan resort in Indian Kashmir popular with skiers, police said. The 25-year-old victim was skiing with a fellow Swede in Gulmarg, a hill resort in Indian-administered Kashmir frequented by families and winter adventurers alike, when the avalanche barrelled down the slopes.
