‘Trespassers would be shot dead’ army warns people in Kulgam; Flag march in Pulwama

Army personnel from 9 Rashtriya Rifles have drawn a warning line on the road with the directions that those who will cross that line will be shot dead at Chewalgam area of district Kulgam.

Reportedly, the line drawn with wax is a message to people not to cross it otherwise they will face bullets.

Meanwhile, a strict curfew has been imposed in the entire district on the first death anniversary of Commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani in district Kulgam.

However, no reports of stone pelting were received from any part of the district.

Authorities have clamped down the entire Kashmir valley to quell the protests on the first death anniversary of Commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani. Internet services have also been suspended in the Valley.

The entire Hurriyat leadership has also been put under house detention. The Joint Hurriyat has called for a general strike today to commemorate the death anniversary of Burhan. The leadership has also called for Tral challo today.

Burhan, a 22-year-old Internet-savvy poster boy of the Hizb, was killed by the forces in Bemdoora, Kokernag in district Anantnag on July 8, 2016, sparking widespread protests in entire Kashmir and parts of Jammu’s Chenab valley leaving more than 90 people dead and thousands injured, mostly pellet victims, during the five-month-long unrest.

Meanwhile, army conducted a flag march in Pichul and Tahab areas of district Pulwama amid strict curfew on the first death anniversary of Commander Burhan Wani on Saturday.

Local sources told Kashmir Post that amid strict curfew army conducted a flag march in some area of the district including Pichul and Tahab to prevent people from marching towards Tral town.

They said that around 20 local youth from the adjacent areas of Pichul and Tahab, who were trying to march towards Tral, were caught by the army and beaten mercilessly.

Meanwhile, a strict curfew has been imposed in Shopian, Pulwama and Anantnag district to foil the Hurriyat’s Tral Chalo call.
