We respect Cop’s families; stop harassing Militant’s families: Lashkar Chief

On Tuesday the DGP had said that his “message to militants is loud and clear. They should not drag families of cops into the conflict and instead face us on ground.”

Stating that militants respect families of security forces in J&K, Lashkar-e-Toiaba Chief Mehmood Shah Thursday asked Director General Police SP Vaid to ensure that there was no harassment of militants’ families henceforth.
While rejecting the statement that militants were harassing families of the forces, Shah, in a statement issued to local dailies said: “Till date the militants have never targeted the families of the forces. But after every defeat faced by the forces on the ground, the families of militants are being harassed. This should stop,” Shah said in the statement.
“If they think that we can’t get them being outsiders then it’s wrong thinking on their part. It is not a big deal for us to get to families of each police official, but we respect their families. The DGP should work for improvement of behaviour of police and other forces,” the statement said.
On Tuesday the DGP had said that his “message to militants is loud and clear. They should not drag families of cops into the conflict and instead face us on ground.”
The DGP’s remarks came in the wake of reports about a group of around 10 militants entering the house of a senior police officer in South Kashmir’s Shopian district Monday night, asking his parents to persuade their son “to quit the job or face consequences.”
Meanwhile, the Lashkar Chief paid tributes to two militants who were killed in an encounter with the forces in Pulwama.
“The freedom movement has entered into a new phase owing to full support from militants and people. The state propaganda has failed as every Kashmiris is ready to die for the cause; educated youth are sacrificing their lives for a better and secure future and young boys are fighting the forces with stones.”
While condemning the “atrocities committed upon people by the forces in Kashmir,” the statement said “Kashmir youth are ready to pick up the guns for the cause”.
