Private vehicles and some public transport plied on roads.
Work in government offices was affected due to the strike while schools across the valley remained shut. Scores of schools like Kendriya Vidhalayas, JNVs and Army Goodwill Schools have started classes from last month but rest of the educational institutions remained closed.

The downtown or old city areas including Nowhatta, Khanyar, Eidgah, Alamgiri Bazar, Soura, Buchpora, Lal Bazar, Sadrabal, Babademb remained shut with thin vehicular movement.
In city centre, all shops were shut with vendors opening to a good rush from TRC ground to Hari Singh High Street. Areas in civil lines like Batwara, Sonwar, Dalgate remained shut while Sanatnagar and Rajbagh remained open.
Rush of private transport could be seen on city roads while rural areas saw thin movement of private vehicles.

Skeletal public transport from Batwara to Batamaloo plied while Sumos and Taveras ferried passengers to North and South Kashmir.
As per commuters, the deployment of para-military personnel across Kashmir facilitates the movement of private and public transport on shutdown day.
“The presence of CRPF and police men at every nook and corner helps movement of transport,” said Ghulam Ahmad, a resident of Khanyar.
All district headquarters observed shutdown but office-goers made it to their respective offices.
The joint resistance leadership has so far issued 21 protest calendars which includes four full-day relaxations on weekends in the last two weeks.

The separatists, who are spearheading the ongoing agitation, have been issuing weekly protest programmes. They had announced two full days of relaxation on the weekend in the agitation programme.
At least 94 people, including two cops, have been killed and several thousand others injured in the ongoing unrest in the Valley.
