Panic in Gurez area due to cross border shelling, Kishen Ganga Power Project comes under attack

Panic gripped the Gurez area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir on Wednesday as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC).
Local sources told Kashmir Post that such was the intensity of shelling that dozens of mortar shells landed in Dawar area of the Gurez town.
They said that people ran for their lives and took shelter in safer places. Cross border mortar shelling was going on when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, The dam site of 330 Megawatt Kishen Ganga Hydroelectric Power Project Wednesday was caught under shelling when Pak army fired several mortars on operations sites.
Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy shelling in the area. Several mortars land near dam and crusher site in Kanzalwan and all the workers were called back and asked to take refuge in tunnels, an official told Kashmir Post.
However there were no reports of causality. KGHEP is a most controversial project under construction on Kishen Ganga river (Neelam) in Malikpora Kanzalwan Gurez.
Several shells land near the dam site and on crusher plant, however all officials and workers are safe, an HCC official from Gurez told Kashmir Post.
