Life remained affected in Kashmir Valley for the 110th consecutive day today due to the strike called by separatists, even as the summer capital continued to witness movement of private transport in some parts.
Many shops were also open in the civil lines and the outskirts of the city, while many street vendors set up stalls at many places around the commercial hub of Lal Chowk.
While there were no curbs on the movement of people anywhere in Kashmir, the officials said restrictions on assembly of four or more people were in place throughout the Valley for maintaining law and order.
They said forces have been deployed in strength at vulnerable spots and along the main roads as a precautionary measure.
Shops, business establishments and fuel stations remained shut and are not expected to open this evening as separatists have not given any relaxation.
Apart from business and tourism, the ongoing unrest has also affected the education as schools, colleges and other educational institutions continue to remain shut in the Valley.
As many as 95 people have been killed and several thousand others injured in the ongoing unrest in the Valley.
Around 5,000 forces personnel have also been injured in the clashes.
Over 300 persons have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Sudden stone pelting on vehicles in Hari Singh High Street
Youths resorted to stone pelting in Srinagar’ Hari Singh High Street on Wednesday evening, reports said.
Unknown persons suddenly appeared and pelted stones, ransacked the material of street vendors, local sources said.
Pertinently, civil lines areas are witnessing considerable movement of private transport during strike hours.Reports said that many vehicles were damaged in sudden stone pelting incident. The stone pelters fled from the scene soon.

Masked youths damage cars, motorcycles in Pulwama
Masked youths on Wednesday morning vandalized cars and motorcycles in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during shutdown hours.
GK lensman Kamran Yousuf who was present at the spot said that people ran for safety after masked youths appeared outside the District Hospital in Pulwama.
The youths carrying long sticks damaged vehicles and motorcycles before taking a flight for the fear of being arrested.

Two arrested for fueling unrest in Sopore: Police
Police on Wednesday said it has arrested four persons, including two active members of a militant organization, which had got money from Pakistan for fueling and sustaining the present unrest in Sopore area.
The accused who were identified as Gowhar Ahmed Bhat resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla and Hilal Ahmed Gojri resident of Syed Karim Baramulla are active members of militant organization Tehreek-i-Jehad-i-Islami (TJI) based in Pakistan, said a spokesman.
“They had visited Pakistan during ongoing unrest. During their questioning names of two more persons Showkat Ali Gazi resident of Sidiq Colony Sopore and Zahoor Ahmed Shagoo resident of Tawheed Bagh Sopore surfaced. Incriminating documents were recovered from their possession,” he added.
During questioning, he said, the duo revealed that during their visit to Pakistan they received Rupees 50000 each and were promised more funds for fueling the current unrest.
A case has been registered and investigation has been taken up, he said.

NC takes out protest demonstration
Jammu Kashmir’s main opposition party National Conference (NC) Wednesday took out a protest demonstration from its Nawa-i-Subh headquarters up to residence of Chief Minister at Gupkar here.
The protests march was led by its Secretary General Ali Mohammad Sagar.
“All the promises of PDP have proved hoax,” Sagar said. Sagar also added that PDP is responsible for the innocent killings across Kashmir.
Nasir Aslam, Mubarak Gul, Mustafa Kamal, Sakina Ittoo were also part of the protest march.
