Women held freedom rally at Sopore; Protesters set motorbike on fire at Batamaloo

Hundreds of women held a freedom rally at Sopore in north Kashmir on Tuesday on the call of joint Hurriyat leadership. Local sources told Kashmir Post that announcements were made soon after Zuhar prayers from mosque loudspeakers appealing women folk to come out of their homes and participate in the rally. The appeal further said that men were not allowed to participate in the rally.
Soon women started their rally from New Colony of the north town. Sources said the rally was on way to main Chowk amid complete shutdown in the town.

Meanwhile, protesters on Tuesday set ablaze a motorbike at Batamaloo in Srinagar for “violating” separatist’s call, creating panic in the area. Sources said that some protesters came on the main road at Rekechowk, Batamloo and stopped a biker who was on way to somewhere.
They immediately set the bike on fire, eyewitnesses told Kashmir Post. Pertinently, private vehicular traffic was plying to some extent in the civil lines area of Srinagar on straight 74th day of shutdown.
