Ahead of a proposed freedom rally at Lalpora Lolab where Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani is scheduled to address people telephonically, intense clashes erupted at Krusan Lolab on Monday.
Baring BSNL authorities have once again snapped mobile telephony and placed tough restrictions on public movement in the district as a “preventive measure”.
Local sources told Kashmir Post that many processions are heading towards the freedom rally venue from peripheries.

Dozens of persons were injured on Monday after forces fired pellets into a rally in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The action came as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the government has given PAVA shells as an alternative to pellet guns.
Witnesses and reports said that forces ransacked the venue, barged into the houses in Zonglipora village during an overnight raid where they vandalized the property and thrashed the inmates.
“When we tried to take out the rally, the forces fired pellets to foil it,” said a local.
He said that dozens of people were hit by pellets.

People in Kupwara in north Kashmir on Monday said that the mobile phone services, except the State-run BSNL, have been suspended in the district. “The incoming and outgoing call facility on all mobile phones except BSNL has been suspended,” said a consumer.
Because of the suspension, he said, they were unable to contact their loved ones. “We appeal to the authorities to revoke the ban,” they said.

Unidentified persons on Saturday night looted the weapon from the guard of a pro-India leader in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Sources told Kashmir Post that the service rifle was snatched from the guard of CPI (M) leader Ali Muhammad Koka in Bugam village.
