Scores injured in Palhallan clashes; Violent Clashes at several places in Bandipora; 3 Women injured in Kupwara

Police and paramilitary CRPF on Friday used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse a massive rally raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans in Bandipora after Friday prayers.
As soon as the rally reached near Nowpora Chowk, police and CRPF fired tear gas shells on it, local sources told Kashmir Post.
They said that massive clashes were going on in the area adding many protesters including women were injured so far.
Forces on Friday resorted to teargas shelling to break up a protest rally in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, triggering clashes.
Witnesses said that the inhabitants of Pazalpora, Mantrigam and Darmahama areas of district carried out a protest rally and marched towards Sonerwani where an office of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is located.
The protesters, according to witnesses, tried to attack the BRO office but they were intercepted by Army’s 14 RR unit camped at Sonerwani, which led to clashes.
Army fired dozens of tear smoke, sound shells and pepper gas to disperse the protesters.
Reports said that two youth were injured during the clashes, which were going on when the last reports came in.

More than a dozen people were injured after the government forces fired pellets and used tear-gas shells into a demonstration in north Kashmir’s Palhallan area on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said that a peaceful protest was organised in the area, which was headed by elders and senior citizens.
“We were marching peacefully towards the highway. Forces fired pellets and teargas shells without any provocation,” said a protester.
He said over a dozen persons received pellet injuries.
They have been shifted to nearby health centres for treatment, he said.

Three young women sustained injuries after police and CRPF personnel fired pellets to disperse protesters in Tikker, area of Kupwara on Friday. Local sources told Kashmir Post that pro-freedom rallies were held at many places in the north district however government forces used force against one such rally at Tikker, injuring three women.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people took out a pro-freedom march in Watergam Rafiabad of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after Friday prayers. The protest march was taken from Jamia Masjid to main Chowk. Protesters shouted anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
Women folk also joined the protest march. The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
