Massive peaceful Pro-Freedom rally in Dalgate, Sopore; Three injured in Trehgam; 21 Stone Pelting Incidents reported

A massive pro-freedom rally was held in Srinagar’s top tourist destination-Dalgate.

The people formed a rally which was peaceful.

Amid pro-freedom slogans, they late a Sit-In protest.

The united resistance leadership had asked people to march towards Aripanthan Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district where four persons were killed by forces on August 16 morning.

The protesters later dispersed off, peacefully.

A similar pro-freedom rally was organised on Friday in Chanapora area of Srinagar. Hundreds of people assembled at a park in Doodh Ganga Colony, Old Chanapora soon after the culmination of Friday prayers.

At least three persons were injured when forces fired pellets to disperse protesters in North Kashmir’s Trehgam on Friday.

Police sources said that three persons were injured and later shifted to Kupwara hospital.

Meanwhile, massive protest demonstrations were held after post Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid Sopore and other adjoining areas of town where shouting pro-freedom slogans, people were marched towards main chowk Sopore.

However, forces stationed in the Chowk, used force and fired teargas smoke shells towards the peaceful protesters.

Two women among and several protesters were injured during the clashes which erupted thereafter.

The injured were shifted to local hospital.

Meanwhile, forces used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse a massive rally raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans in Bandipora after Friday prayers.

As soon as the rally reached near Nowpora Chowk, police and CRPF fired tear gas shells on it.

Meanwhile government did not allow major Masjids in Srinagar, Islamabad, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Baramulla and other district headquarters on Friday.

21 Stone-Pelting incidents reported on Friday: Police
According to a statement issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir, 21 incidents of stone pelting were reported after Friday prayers from Sopore, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Handwara, Bandipora and Pulwama.
The statement said that restrictions under section 144/CrPC remained in force in Kashmir valley on Friday.
“Curfew was imposed in Srinagar, Baramulla, Kaloosa in Bandipora and in the towns of Anantnag, Shopian and Pampore,” the statement said.
The statement further said that last evening, unknown militants hurled a grenade towards the residential house of ex-MLA Shopian, Sheikh Mohammad Rafi at village Kachdoora, Shopian which exploded without causing any damage.
“A case stands registered in Police Station Shopian and investigation taken up,” it said.
