Thai delegation, PHD chamber agree to strengthen business tiesThe Thailand Board of Investment (TBI) and PHD Chamber of Commerce, Kashmir Chapter held a meeting here today to explore business opportunities. Talking to reporters after the meeting, TBI deputy secretary general Chokedee Kaewsang, who led the 24 member Thai delegation, said they would explore business opportunities in the Valley especially related to tourism.
Chairman, PHD Chamber of Commerce, Kashmir chapter, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was keen to develop the industrial infrastructure in the state and today’s meeting would lay the foundation towards the direction.
Speaking on the occasion, co-chairman of the chamber Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo said the meeting would be a step towards ‘increasing economic dynamism of Kashmir-Thai cooperation and the increasing role of Thailand as a dynamic player, especially in tourism’.
“This session of meeting will offer us a striking opportunity to concretise the Kashmir-Thai cooperation for a mutually beneficial sustainable development by reviewing the possibilities for trade and investment,” he said.
“The state offers many fiscal incentives to the industry under the central package and the state industrial policy. These incentives have attracted investments for our state. Some of the focus areas of the state government include food processing and agro-based industries, auto ancillaries, precision engineering, computer hardware and electronics, mineral exploration, eco-tourism, silk, handicrafts and leather goods,” he added.
