Social activists want drug mafia booked on sedition charge

Social activists want drug mafia booked on sedition chargeTeam Jammu, a social organisation which has been working against the drug menace in Jammu province, has exhorted all political parties of the state to evolve a consensus on taking effective steps to eradicate this menace to liberate the youth from this death trap.
The members of the organisation have appealed to all political parties to bring a resolution in the Assembly to book the drug mafia on the charge of sedition.
Terrorism had been playing with the lives of the common man while the drug mafia had been spoiling the youth of the state, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman, Team Jammu.
“All political parties are duty bound to evolve a mechanism to deal with the menace because the state is virtually slipping into the tight grip of the drug mafia,” he said.
“Parents are watching helplessly as their teenage children die slow deaths due to failure of the authorities in cracking down on the mafia, well connected with some corrupt politicians and police,” he said.
Addressing the media today, Jamwal expressed Team Jammu’s concern over failure of the authorities to keep a check on the drug mafia.
“Those who are involved in supplying drugs to the youth are anti-national and should be booked on charge of sedition for a strict message. Spoiling the younger generation is an act against the nation,” he said.
He added that the forthcoming Budget session of the Assembly would provide an opportunity to all political parties to take an initiative in this direction.
He hoped that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti would take the lead in a fight against the drug mafia.
Jamwal said continuing its campaign against the drug mafia and drug lords, Team Jammu would organise an anti-drug rally in Samba on May 15.
The Samba rally would be the fourth such rally to educate the younger generation against this menace. Such rallies had been organised in Jammu, Rajouri and Katra.
Team Jammu, an organisation comprising young professionals, social activists, sportspersons, doctors, journalists, educationists, technocrats, retired Army and police officers and intellectuals, has taken the initiative to rid the Jammu region of this menace.
Anupam Sambyal, Sunil Gupta, Rahul SinghSambyal, Satish Dutta and Bharat Bhushan Sharma were present on the occasion.
