KCCI says regime ignored warning about industrial policy

KCCI says regime ignored warning about industrial policyThe Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said that it had cautioned the puppet regime about the ill-consequences of the Industrial Policy-2016 when it was being drafted.

The KCCI President, Mustaq A Wani addressing a special meeting of the body in Srinagar deplored that the administration ignored its advice and went ahead with the policy.

He said that the authorities were in haste to implement the policy, which could prove detrimental to the peace and stability of the territory. He expressed regret at the attitude displayed by the administration in ignoring the letter of caution given through communication March 9, 2016.The new industrial policy was approved during the governor rule. Pro-freedom politicians and civil society have reacted strongly to the move, which they call an attempt to further erode the special status of the territory. They say that the policy was drafted with an aim to felicitate lease of land to non-state subjects.

In its meeting, the Chamber termed as mischievous the clause 2.11.2 of the Industrial Policy, which allows non-state subjects free access to the land in Jammu and Kashmir.

It also condemned the raking up of unnecessary controversies by bureaucracy as a conspiracy to thrust the territory into further turmoil.

Certain New Delhi-sponsored business organisations or chapters are promoting corporate interests aimed at diluting the interests of Jammu and Kashmir and its populace, it said.

“The Kashmir Chamber is very much conscious of the need for protection of our limited land and assets. Any move that threatens the special status of our territory shall be appropriately opposed,” the meeting vowed.
