Bollywood’s love with PheranThe bollywood’s romance has not only continued with Kashmir’s breathtaking places but age-old local culture and tradition has been persistently portrayed in the films shot here.
The snow covered mountains and lush green meadows have not only provided beautiful backdrop to filmmakers but the actresses who have been costumed with Kashmiri’s traditional dress especially pheran have also looked graceful.
From Sharmila Tagore who looked extremely pretty and innocent in the film ‘Kashmir ki kali’ wearing the pheran, a head dress and matching jewellery.
In the song ‘yeh chand sa roshan chehra’, she looks beautiful in red full sleeved pheran with embroidery works on the front, back and the sleeves.
The trend was followed by other actors and actresses. Preity Zinta also looked simple yet elegant in the film ‘Mission Kashmir’ wearing Kashmiri costumes. She wears simple Kashmiri ‘Shalwar Kameez’ in the film and in the famous song ‘bhoomroo, bhoomroo’ she is spotted in a cream-colored costume with gold embroidery which is very eye catching.
The costume designer also chooses Kashmiri pharan for the actress in her another movie ‘Hero.’
In another movie ‘Rockstar’, its lead actress Nargis Fakhri also looks beautiful in the film where is seen wearing Kashmiri clothes in most of the shots. She looks absolutely fabulous dressed up as a Kashmiri bride. She wears an orange colored ‘Lehenga’ that is beautifully embroidered and full of glitz. She also wears a kalpush, which is a headgear. This coupled with matching accessories, makes her look breathtaking.
Wearing the Kashmiri pheran, Alia Bhatt rocks the Kashmiri look in style in the movie ‘Highway.’ Even without the make-up and the glamour quotient, she manages to grab eyeballs with her simplistic style and dress.
Veteran Indian actress Farida Jalal was also recently in Kashmir shooting for the upcoming film Sargoshiyan is also seen wearing embroidered Pheran.
Interestingly, actors too have not shied away from wearing Kashmir local dress. The veteran bollywood actor Gulshan Grover and Rahul Dev who are in Sonamarg Kashmir for the shooting of a Malaysian movie ‘I am not a terrorist’ were also spotted wearing traditional pheran.
Gulshan Grover who is also known as bad man of the bollywood was also seen wearing a ‘Kashmiri karakul’ on the sets.
