Complete projects on time - MehboobaChief Minister Mehbooba Mufti inaugurated the 2 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) to facilitate biological disposal of sewage from hotels, huts and residential houses in Pahalgam in Anantnag district of south Kashmir today.
She also inaugurated an artificial ice skating rink at Pahalgam that would be an added attraction and make it a round-the-year destination.
After commissioning the fully automatic sewage treatment plant, the Chief Minister was informed that the facility would benefit 170 hotels, 650 residential houses and 310 huts, thus paving the way for operationalising the biological disposal of sewage at the resort.
With the capacity to drain out two million litres of sewage per day, the treatment plant has been constructed by the Urban Environmental Engineering Department at a cost of Rs 10.58 crore, which has been fully funded by the Pahalgam Development Authority. The work on the second and the third phases for laying of more such treatment plants is also being taken up that would cater to the areas on the outskirts of Pahalgam.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the first phase of the artificial skating rink at Nunwan, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore by the Tourism Department. The rink will have night skating facility, which is expected to become a big attraction for tourists and is aimed at making Pahalgam an all-season tourist destination.
She also laid the foundation stone of 1MGD water supply scheme at Kehribal during her extensive tour of Anantnag district for taking a first-hand stock of the ongoing development works.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited different areas of the district and inspected various schemes, projects and ongoing development works. She directed the officials concerned to expedite the completion of works on various projects, which had been delayed due to varied reasons.
