Governor NN Vohra has extended Baisakhi greetings to the people.
Guv, CM extend Baisakhi greetingsIn a message of felicitations, the Governor observed that the day had special significance for the people of north India, particularly for the Sikh community, as the Khalsa Panth was born on this day. It also marks the beginning of the New Year in the Indian calendar.
The Governor said in the northern states, Baisakhi also marked the commencement of the harvesting season, when farmers reaped the fruit of their hard work. He observed that the celebration of the festival was a shining example of our glorious pluralistic traditions. The Governor prayed for peace, harmony, brotherhood, progress and prosperity in the state.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has also extended greetings to the people of the state, particularly to Sikh community. In a message of felicitations, Mehbooba said the tradition of observing Baisakhi with harmony and brotherhood added colour to its festivity.
“Jammu and Kashmir is known for celebrating holy occasions and festivals in the spirit of unity, amity and love,” she said, while calling for cementing the bonds of love between various sections of society and nurturing communal harmony at all levels. She prayed for peace and prosperity of the state and the country.
