Residents of north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Kupwara and bandipora district Wednesday said the mobile internet services were snapped there on Wednesday without any prior notice. “Mobile internet services went off exactly at 6 pm. We tried to contact customer care but couldn’t,” a group of residents from the area told . Similar reports poured in from Handwara and Kupwara towns. Police sources said the decision to snap internet was a “precautionary measure to maintain peace.”

A youth was killed after being hit by a teargas shell fired by forces in Drugmulla area of north Kashmir on Wednesday, taking the death toll to four in less than 24 hours. Witnesses said that Jahangir Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Din Wani, resident of Drugmulla died after being hit by a shell in the head.
