Former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today left for New Delhi on an expected important assignment related to the present political scenario in the state.
His New Delhi visit soon after the important Sangh meeting at Nagaur in Rajasthan is being anticipated to bring back home some significant decision related to government formation.
Nirmal is scheduled to meet the top central leaders which may include BJP national president Amit Shah, general secretary Ram Madhav and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
“This is being presumed as an important meeting of the state and central BJP leaders for a final take on government formation,” said a senior BJP leader present who attended the party meeting at the BJP headquarters here today.
The BJP leader said the central leadership had taken a hardened stand and did not want to linger on.
The senior leader said the centre and the state unit of the party had made up its mind to carry on with the status quo situation in the state and leave the further course of action to Governor NN Vohra.
“Governor Vohra is doing a great job in executing the development works which were taken up by the BJP while in the coalition. The expediting of disbursement of the Rs 80,000-crore package through various heads for quick take up of development measures are noteworthy and up to the expectations of people,” said the leader.
The BJP leader said the party in the present administrative context was fully satisfied with the ongoing process and was ready to face fresh elections, if needed.
Meanwhile, a source privy to the recently concluded annual meeting of the RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha at Nagaur said the issue of government crisis in Jammu and Kashmir had come up on the concluding day. A suggestion was mooted and accepted to keep the situation of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir as status quo, he added.
“Already, the top Sangh leaders were not in favour of restitching the alliance with the diametrically opposite ideological party. The decision to keep the things in suspended animation and leaving the administrative control to the presidential role in the state has been accepted by the BJP as the best alternative option,” said the source.
The source also divulged that Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti had met the Finance Minister and point man of the Jammu and Kashmir affairs Arun Jaitley during her last visit to New Delhi wherein she was asked to form the government and work for the development issues for two years.
“Mehbooba was assured by the Centre that it will revisit the confidence-building measures after two years,” the source said.
