Fresh spell of rain lash Kashmir regionKashmir’s upper reaches received rains on Thursday, even as local Meteorological Department predicted more precipitation in next 24 hours.
A MeT official said rains lashed Pahalgam, Kupwara, Zojilla and Mughal Road and some other places.
At Sadna Top, Z-Gali and Amaranth Cave, a mix of rains and snow was recorded, the MeT official said.
Officials said there will be scattered light to moderate rain and snow in next two days.
“Snow will be mostly experienced in higher reaches and plains will receive rains,” they said. “The activity will increase significantly both in terms of intensity and spread, on Friday. Fairly widespread rain and snow will continue over the state till March 27.”
Officials said rains and snow led to decrease in temperatures.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 5.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday, they said. It was 1.0 degree Celsius in Gulmarg and 1.6 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam in Anantnag district.
Met officials said Leh and Kargil towns of Ladakh region recorded minus 2.4 and minus 3.4 degrees Celsius as day’s minimum temperature, respectively.
In Jammu region, the minimum temperature was 15.2 degrees Celsius in the city while Katra recorded 14.4 degrees Celsius, Batote 10.5 degrees Celsius, Banihal 6.6 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah 7.1 degrees Celsius and Udhampur 9.7 degrees Celsius.
