Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti is meeting the former deputy chief minister and senior Bharatiya Janta Party leader Nirmal Singh in Jammu on Tuesday before meeting Governor Narendra Nath Vohra at the Rajbhavan.
According to sources, Mehbooba would meet the senior leader of the rightwing party before meeting Governor Vohra, who gave a deadline to the two parties to make their positions clear about the government formation in the State.The sources said the PDP President is likely to reiterate her stand to the BJP leader that it would go for government formation with the saffron party only after assurances about implementing the Agenda of Alliance, the Common Minimum Program stitched by the two parties before forming the coalition government in March last year.
Chairing a meeting of her party legislators at her Fairview residence at Gupkar road in Srinagar on Monday, Mehbooba showed no signs of staking claim to form the government before Governor Vohra on Tuesday.
The sources said Mehbooba would raise the issue with Singh about how her party had been let down by BJP and Narendra Modi-led government at New Delhi by failing to implement the Agenda of Alliance in letter and spirit and by raking up issues like State flag, Article 370 and Article 35-A, which accord a special status to Jammu Kashmir.
They said she would seek clarification why BJP had raked all these issues during the nine-month government headed by her father Mufti Muhammad Sayeed although had agreed in the Agenda of Alliance to avoid all these controversial issues and work for the peace and development of the State.
