Higher reaches of Kashmir Thursday experienced fresh snowfall while rains lashed the plains even as minimum temperatures in most parts of the Valley stayed slightly above the freezing point. The industrialists have preferred to employ non local residents at the Lassipora estate with over 6000 non-state subjects given jobs by different unit holders here. At the estate over 180 units are functional, and as per police records, on an average each unit employs 30-40 non local residents. Sopore town of north Kashmir on Wednesday observed complete shutdown against the killing of a local militant in a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Pampore area last evening.
