Party elects its first ever constituency president in Valley

BJP claims 3 lakh members in Kashmir; 45,000 from Bandipora aloneThe Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday after electing its first ever constituency president in Kashmir claimed to have three lakh members in the Valley.
The party state president Askok Koul announced the names of president and representative of Sonwar constituency here.
A function was organized by BJP regarding its Organizational Elections here in a hotel. BJP State High Command observed the election process which started at 11 am.
BJP had invited 80 polling booth presidents on the occasion and a number of people from Sonwar constituency.
Among 80 presidents, two were elected as president Sonwar constituency and representative respectively.
People voted for Ghulam Hassan Mir who became Constituency president and Ali Mohammad Malik who was declared as Constituency Representative.
Addressing the gathering, Koul said this is the first ever constituency election held by BJP in Kashmir. He said in the history of BJP in J&K, this was their first effort to elect its members for president’s post.
“It is an achievement that in the history of BJP in Kashmir we have been successfully able to conduct organizational elections. This process will continue and our next election will be held in Batamaloo constituency,” he said.
Besides, BJP claimed to have 3 lakh members in Kashmir alone and most of them are from Bandipora district.
“We have 3 lakh members in Kashmir and they have joined us since we have set our foot in Kashmir. We have 45,000 members from Bandipora district and it is a huge number for us and indeed a success,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP spokesperson Darakhshan Andrabi asked people to trust the party for its ‘better governance’.
She promised jobs, facilities, and all basic amenities to people of Sonwar constituency.
“We are here for you people and we promise to help you always in getting all basic amenities, jobs and other facilities. I hope you will continue to support BJP in future,” she said.
A number of people including women attended the function.
