Valley docs seek curbs on spurious drugs

Valley docs seek curbs on spurious drugsA delegation of the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and Medical Employees Federation (MEF) met PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and sought curbs on the sale of spurious drugs.

The delegation, led by DAK president Nisar-ul-Hassan, met the PDP president on Tuesday and pointed out the deep rooted nexus between some shoddy pharma companies and drug mafia, the association said in a statement here today.

The delegation voiced concern over “unabated influx of spurious and substandard drugs” into the Valley.

The delegation urged the PDP president that the government should take “effective measures to curb the menace of spurious drugs, which is responsible for loss of precious human lives”.

The delegation attributed the deteriorating condition of Government Medical College and associate hospitals to the “mismanagement” and “rising corruption”.
