PDP MP Warns Mufti against BJP’s ‘communal agenda’

Seeks FIR against BJP MLAs who assaulted Rashid

‘Incident akin to Dadri lynching’
Senior PDP leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra has said the BJP legislators who assaulted independent MLA, Er Abdul Rashid on Thursday in the Legislative Assembly should be booked for their reprehensible action in the House.
PDP MP Warns Mufti against BJP’s ‘communal agenda’“Today’s highly deplorable action by the BJP legislators in the Assembly has not only brought shame to the House and the PDP-BJP alliance, but the outrageous action of the BJP legislators is almost akin to the lynching of Mohammad Ikhlaque of Dadri, UP. It is not an attack on Er Rashid, but an attack on whole Kashmiri nation,” Karra said in a statement to local news agency KNS.
Rashid was attacked by BJP legislators in the House for organizing a beef party at his official residence here last evening.
“Today’s tragic incident in the State Assembly has made it amply clear that if the communal and radical Hindutva elements are not reigned in immediately, the time is not far away when we will see Dadri like appalling incidents being replicated even on the streets of the Muslim majority state like Jammu and Kashmir,” Karra said and added that if immediate legal action is not taken against the accused BJP legislators, they will be emboldened to interfere in other religious matters of the State’s majority Muslim population.
“Unfortunately, it will be too late, before BJP and the Sangh Parivar realize the immense damage being caused by their loathly policies to the secular fabric of the country,” he said.
Urging PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and party president, Mehbooba Mufti to ponder over the pros and cons of the party’s alliance with BJP, Karra said at a time when the minorities in the country are looking towards a united leadership to counter the radical Hindutva elements, PDP should not be seen cozying up to such sadistic elements for the sake of power.
“My reservations, which I have reiterated time and again, regarding our party’s alliance with BJP were not for the heck of it. I had foreseen that that the radical Hindutva forces would try to implement their divisive and communal agenda in Jammu and Kashmir under the democratic cover over the shoulders of its regional coalition partner,” Karra said.
