Traders want Mufti to look into their demands

The Karan Nagar Traders’ Federation (KNTF) today alleged that the government had neglected them while seeking Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s intervention for the resolution of their demands.

“Despite the fact that Karan Nagar is a commercial hub, we have been neglected by the government. Though we have sent several reminders, the government has not addressed our genuine grievances,” said Karan Nagar Traders’ Federation president Aijaz Shahdar.

He said most of the streetlights in the area were defunct that was affecting businesses in the evening hours. He said electric wires at several places needed to be replaced with the new ones as they were posing a danger to local residents and shoppers.

Shahdar said a few houses had come up in the middle of the road that was causing problems to the business community. “The owners of these houses and shops should be properly rehabilitated and the area should be cleared so that there are no traffic jam and other issues,” he said.

The Karan Nagar Traders’ Federation also said the presence of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Karan Nagar was affecting business activities. “Around 50 houses are occupied by the CRPF and as a result, a few link roads have been closed that is affecting business activities,” Shahdar said.

He appealed to the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and R&B Minister Altaf Bukhari to personally look into the matter.
