Probe ordered into fake BAMS degree of BJP MLA’s wife

A local court today directed the crime branch, Jammu, to investigate the alleged fake degree of BJP MLA Gagan Bhagat’s wife, who claims to be a doctor by profession.

A complaint had been lodged by Neelam Kumari, member of the Board of Directors, J&K Women Credit Cooperative Limited.

She had alleged that Dr Monika Sharma, wife of the RS Pura MLA, had a fake degree in Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS).

The complainant had alleged that Dr Monika Sharma had got employed in J&K Women Credit Cooperative Limited on the basis of the fake degree.

Issuing an order, the court mentioned that the Controller at BRA University, Muzaffarpur, had verified that the marks card and degree had not been issued by the university and therefore, she had committed cognisable offences.

The court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Jammu, directed the crime branch, Jammu, to investigate the matter. The complainant had pointed out that there was every possibility that a number of persons could be involved in a racket giving fake degrees for money.

A case had been registered against Dr Monika Sharma in 2012 for illegally conducting prenatal detection tests at her clinic in RS Pura, which was sealed at that time.
