Guv praises people for smooth conduct of yatraGovernor NN Vohra, who is also the chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), has lauded the coordination among the state government departments, security forces and local stakeholders involved in the yatra management this year.

The Governor also thanked the people, particularly of Anantnag and Ganderbal districts, for their support for ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of the pilgrimage. He also conveyed his gratitude to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh, Minister for Health Choudhary Lal Singh, Minister for Public Health and Engineering Sukhnandan Kumar, Minister for Public Works Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh and Altaf Ahmad Wani, MLAs from the Kangan, Ganderbal and Pahalgam constituencies, respectively, for their support to the yatra.

Vohra was addressing the post-yatra review meeting which was followed by a felicitation function at Raj Bhawan here today.

The Governor observed that the post-yatra review meetings had been convened for the past five years immediately after the culmination of the yatra to identify the weak points and bring about progressive improvements in the management of the ensuing yatras.

On the basis of the feedback received from the camp directors, the Governor asked PK Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, to initiate action to prepare camp-wise and route-wise action plans for the next year’s yatra in a time-bound basis, focusing on medicare, water and power supply, sanitation, environment protection and accommodation.

As the chairman of the SASB, the Governor presented certificates and mementos to the officers who attended the meeting. It was a token of the Board’s appreciation and gratitude for their valuable support to the yatra.

Minister for Public Works Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and MLAs Mian Altaf Ahmad and Altaf Ahmad Wani attended the felicitation programme to appreciate the services rendered by all officers concerned for the smooth conduct of the yatra.

The Board CEO gave details of the measures taken for providing the required facilities during the yatra. While thanking one and all for the speed and promptitude with which all those involved with the conduct of the yatra had worked, he said it was due to this synergy which helped in the successful management of the yatra.The issues which were reviewed during the meeting included bringing further improvements in the existing system of registration of the yatris and assess control measures at the Chandanwari and Domel access control gates, functioning of medical aid centres, sanitation arrangements at various camp locations and functioning of langars.

Other issues that came under discussion included helicopter services, services rendered by BSNL, disaster management arrangements, services rendered by various other departments and agencies and the scope for improvements therein.Jitendra K Singh, Additional CEO of the Board, presented the vote of thanks.
